A Bay Vista penthouse, named Sanctuary in the Sky, has sold for $12 million, setting a record for the most expensive condo ever sold in Seattle.

<p”>The sale translates to $2,105 per square foot. The property had been on the market three days shy of two years, at an asking price of $13.8 million.

It was Seattle’s second luxury condo sale in a week, with a 14th floor unit at the Four Seasons selling for $9 million, according to public records.

Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty co-founders Moira Holley and Scott Wasner represented the seller of the Bay Vista condo. Windermere’s Michelle Jewell represented the buyer. While the brokers will not disclose who bought it, word is it’s a local techie.

“This is the second time this condo has set a record,” Holley said. “It was a record-breaking sale in 2005 when I sold it to the buyer at $5.6 million, and now we are selling it again, fully renovated right down the studs. We couldn’t be more delighted.”

The seller spent four years renovating the space, completing it in 2009. Architect Rick Sundberg of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen and interior designer Gregory Carmichael collaborated on the renovation. The bi-level luxe penthouse has sweeping views of the Space Needle, the waterfront and the Seattle skyline.

Records show that the Waterview Survivor’s Trust sold the Four Seasons condo to Alder LLC. Jamie M. Koskela and investment and financial adviser Matthew McCutchen, president and CEO of McCutchen Group, are listed as co-trustees of Waterview Survivor’s Trust. Tere Foster and Moya Skillman of Compass listed the condo for sale, and Wasner negotiated for the buyer, whom the brokers declined to name.

Built in 2008, the two-bedroom, three-bath condo measures 5,111 square feet, putting the price at $1,760 a foot. It was listed for sale for $9.68 million.
